Dear relatives and members of the Fortuné and Léopoldine Mollot Family Tree…Gabrielle, Ernest, Marcel, Marie Louise (Lili) and Thérèse
Bonjour! Hello to all of you! Time surely does slip away! Here’s a little update since our last correspondence.
This last January 2006, you received a letter and a Mollot Family Tree Project Interest Survey. Thanks to everyone who returned the survey…a great response. Results of the survey are as follows:
A. A second Mollot family Reunion (2 or 3 days)
The level of interest was extremely high. Preliminary discussions are taking place to possibly hold one in Toronto, Timmins or Winnipeg the summer of 2011. You will be kept informed as plans progress . Keep July 2011 open for this.
B. Mollot Family Tree Book.
Given the present interest, this project would not be economically viable. This is on hold for the time being.
C. Mollot ‘Tour de France’
An 8-day bus tour of points of interest in the Mollot and Benoit ancestry in France. Great interest in this project has been expressed. The survey indicated that some 50 people are interested. Based on the data collected, it has been determined that a Mollot ‘Tour de France’ is being planned for the summer of 2008. It’s a definite ‘GO.’ Dates set are as follows:
Sun Aug 10, 2008 - All participants to arrive in Paris, France. Participants are to arrange their own transportation to Paris.
Sun Aug 17,2008 Return to Paris from Lyon. The tentative itinerary of the Mollot ‘Tour de France’ is enclosed.
The estimated cost of the 8-day tour , which will include transportation, hotel, guides & breakfast daily will be approximately $2000 per person based on a total of 25 people. The final price will only be determined by the Fall of 2007. We are planning to hire a tour coach line of the quality and reputation of ‘Trafalgar Tour Company’. This is a first class Tour Company operating in Europe. What we need from you now is a commitment. If you are interested, please complete the enclosed pre-registration form c/w a $200 deposit per person and return it by April 1, 2007. Seats will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
This Mollot ‘Tour de France’ will be a truly unique opportunity to discover our rich heritage/ roots which date back to 1645. As you may be aware, an archivist and the mayor of Trouans le Grand are working with us. They come from the same town from which our roots can be traced to where a Claude Mollot was born in 1645 and later married a Louise Gombault located in the Departement of Aube in the province of Champagne, France. Through various contacts in Trouans, Chalons en Champagne, Lyon, Blandin, and Die, France, we have been able to compile some most interesting data about our family history and found interesting places to visit.
Also enclosed is the latest update version of our Family tree. Please verify that your data is correct and advise me if it needs any change.
Another year is fast coming to a close and Christmas is upon us again! It’s a great time for family and friends to get together and celebrate…and a time to reflect on family members, past and present! May you all have a very Merry Christmas and ‘Bonne et Heureuse Année!’
Let’s keep in touch.
